I wanted to create this site to help other Coeliac’s like myself who are on a gluten free diet with details of food available in Australia & New Zealand.
I travelled around parts of Australia for 7 months and 1 month round New Zealand’s North Island from May – December 2009.
Before I left the UK I searched lots of websites to find out how available gluten free food would be in Australia and New Zealand, and I was pleasantly surprised as it did seem much more well known than in the UK.
So as I was travelling around I kept a note of all the places I found gluten free food which includes supermarkets, cafés, takeaways and restaurants. There are probably a lot more places that I didn’t get to visit too that hopefully you’ll come across.
I was in Queensland for the most time so I have a lot of details for that state, but also visited the Northern Territory, South Australia, Victoria and New South Wales.
Overall both Australia and New Zealand are very good for providing gluten free food, particularly in cafés, far better than I experienced back in the UK.
